General Elementor Edits

Now that we have the homepage set up let’s talk customizations. The first thing to know is that all of our themes have been designed with you in mind.  The fonts and colors look great with any branding so don’t feel like you need change things.

However, if you decide to see what your branded font or color looks like in the theme, these instructions will help you. I’ve also included how to duplicate and copy/paste sections, and how to change out background photos.

Because things don’t always go smoothly when we’re learning, I’ve also included how to undo changes

Customizing Colors:

  • To customize the colors to match your branding instead of the demo site, click the item you’d like to edit
  • Next click the style tab in the side bar.
  • Then click the ‘Text Color’ box and enter the hex code for the color you prefer to use.

Customizing Fonts:

The best way to change text is to use the Text Editor box under the content tab on the left. Using the side bar area to make edits ensures the font keeps the correct coding for each section.

These items are all built into your theme so you don’t need to change them, but if your branding uses Georgia, for example, you may want to change the headings font to match.

  • To customize the fonts in any section, click the item you’d like to edit.
  • Next click the ‘Style’ tab in the side bar.
  • Click the pencil on the ‘Typography’ section.
  • Under ‘Family’ you can scroll through the choices or type in the font name you prefer.
  • Use the slider or type in the px number for the font.
  • Then make sure to choose the weight of the font.

To Change a Background Photo:

  • To change a background header photo (you’ll know it’s a background photo when you can’t click on it), hover over the top of the section you’d like to change.
  • Click the six little dots that come up at the top of the section.
  • Choose the image under the ‘Background’ tab to change the photo.
  • After you choose your photo from the media files or upload it from your computer, make sure the settings match the ones below:
    Postition: Center Center
    Attachment: Scroll
    Repeat: No-repeat
    Size: Cover
  • If the background photo is in a column, click on the column icon in the top left corner then following the directions above.
  • Choose the image under the ‘Background’ tab to change the photo.
  • After you choose your photo from the media files or upload it from your computer, make sure the settings match the ones below:
    Postition: Center Center
    Attachment: Scroll
    Repeat: No-repeat
    Size: Cover

Duplicating Sections:

If you want to show more services or need more porfolio examples, the duplicate is the best choice. The section will be copied and added below the section, ready to edit.

  • To use duplicate, right-click the six dots on the top of the section and choose duplicate.

Copy/Paste Sections to New Pages:

To add a section to another page, the copy/paste option is the best choice. Use it to add a lead magnet to another page or to add the completed Contact section to the bottom of each page.

  • To use a section onto another page, right-click the six dots on the top of the section and choose copy.
  • Open the another tab with the second page open in it.
  • Find the area you want to paste the section into and right-click to paste.
  • If the option to paste is greyed out, try moving to a new area and dragging/dropping the section where you want it.

Undoing Changes:

Trying new ideas, editing, and undoing some of those changes is part of designing. When you change something and it doesn’t work, you can roll back to a previous version.

  • To undo the edits, click the back arrow with the clock hands on the bottom row in the side bar by the ‘Update’ button.
  • Click the edit you want to roll back to. The changes will update and when you find the right version, click ‘Update’.
